ANTIQUESLONG LAO NUA BANNER

LONG LAO NUA BANNER

The “Pa Vien Rong” are 7 to 8 meters long pieces of ceremonial cloth. These long rolls are woven from silk and cotton. When they were not in use, fine pieces were stored away in lidded stoneware jars to protect them from sunlight and biological attack. Their villages of origin are the remote communities on the Vietnamese – Lao border. Their remoteness has been a factor keeping Northern Lao textiles out of the market. Literally, “Pa Vien Rong” means cloth around the coffin. It mainly feature geometrical patterns.
